Error exporting report
I've developed an ASP.NET WebApplication (VS.NET 2002) with some Crystal Reports in it to report the data.
This reports are automatically exported into a pdf-File (using the Report.Export function)
To give the user the ability to change the language of the WebApp, all the texts are stored in a MS SQL 2000 Database.
I set the Text-Property of the TextObject in the Report with the following code:
Dim TextObjekt As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.TextObject
TextObjekt = Report.ReportDefinition.ReportObjects.Item("Text14")
TextObjekt.Text = Data.Tables(0).Rows(0).Item("TransText") & ":"
I thought this works fine, till I changed the Text in the database.
Examples:
1.) Text in the database = "Mobil 1"
--> The report works fine, the PDF is successfully created and the TextObject shows "Mobil 1:"
2.) Text in the database = "Hello Echo"
--> The Report works and the PDF is created, but the TextObject shows "Hello Ec"
3.) Text in the database = "PSA"
--> Report.Export crashes with the following error:
"Error #5 - Error in file C:\DOKUME~1\STEFAN\ASPNET\LOKALE~1\Temp\temp_c67a4fca-9bd3-4aa6-935b-0ad7a389f034.rpt:
Error found in Export-DLL : \n0\nCrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine"
Has anyone an idea how I can solve this absolutly strange problem?
Thanks and best regards

Error executing SQL Script from VB:NET
Hi.
I have a complete script from a Database.
But when I try to execute this script (script.txt) from VB.NET shows me many errors. Basically, the special caracters (vbreturn, vbtab, etc.)
How execute this script or format the text to generate the database without problems?
Thanks 4all
IF it is a SQL script, you need a SQL interpreter to run the script.
You would use either OSQL.exe or SQLCmd.exe. (Refer to Books Online for complete syntax details.)
OSQL -S servername -U username -P password -i Scriptfile
Similar command line parameters for SQLCmd.exe
|||You could also tell us what the errors are, what VB object you are trying to use, etc. There are lots of different reasons why this won't work, but I am sure that it could be made to work. Using sqlcmd, osql, or isql would be the easiest way to go, (it changes from one version of SQL Server to the next for the past few versionsTuesday, March 27, 2012

Hi,
This is the same error as in this thread. You should remove the "SqlContext.Pipe.Send..." line from your code. I'm curious what you intent is with that linethe pipe is really to return results from within a stored procedure.

Zafar, if you're attempting to install SQL Server 2005 onto Windows Server 2000 via a network share it will not work. You either have to put the CD/DVD directly into the server's reader drive or copy the files from the network share to the local hard drive of the server to perform the installation.sqlThursday, March 22, 2012
error during .NET Remoting
When I run the reports in my .NET application, I get an error message when I attempt to use .NET remoting while processing a report :
"The type CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FormatEngine in Assembly CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=11.2.3300.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304 is not marked as serializable."
I checked the net for solution, and the work around for this error message, use Report Web Services, or the Crystal Enterprise Report Application Server (CE RAS) or Crystal Enterprise (CE) .NET SDK in your application.
But this will be a major change in the application.
Has anybody else got the same error and found a simpler solution ?
Thanking in advanceSee if you find answer here

Hi
It was already marked as allowing remote connections, but named pipes was not enabled. I enabled named pipes and restarted but not difference. Looking at the code, I can't really see how it could work !
The sample code seems to assume that the server/instance is reachable from the client (unless I'm missing something) - in order to validate the publication.
Given that we are trying to synch via HTTPS and at this point no mention has been made of the URL, isn't the sample code a little bit wrong - again I'm not having the cleverest of weeks so I may be talking rubbish..

the syncType is actually used to determine if the initial data needed to be downloaded to the subscriber ( please refer to sp_addmergepullsubscription for details ).

Error connecting to SQLExpress 2005 locally
I'm a newbie here and was wondering anyone could help me with this.
I have a simple ASP.NET 2 web application running perfectly fine with
IIS and SQLServerExpress installed locally on my WinXP as a testing
server (I created the app in Visual Studio.NET 2005).
When deploying this app on the production server (running Win2000
Server, IIS and SQLServerExpress 2005), I'm getting the following
message when calling an aspx data-bound page from a browser:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.
When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the
fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote
connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error
Locating Server/Instance Specified)
On the production server, I have the SQLServerExpress installed locally
on C: drive and the database is located on D: drive (on the same
directory as the app).
Connection string used in the webconfig file:
connectionString=" Server=SERVERNAME\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFil
ename=D:\Inetpub\A
pp_Data\registration. mdf;Database=registration;Trusted_Connec
tion=yes;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"
Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
HarryHi
Have you checked if you are allowing remote connections on your SQL Express
installation, by default these will be switched off.
Check the Remote Connections setting the the SQL Server 2005 Surface Aread
Configuration tool.

I did allow remote connections eventhough my database is on the same machine
as my web app, but no luck so far.
I used windows authentication for the database, and login to the machine
using admin account.
Another thing that I noticed is that when I go to SQL Server Configuration
Manager, under SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration, it says Protocols for
MSSQLSERVER, whereas on my dev machine it says SQLEXPRESS. When upgrading
from MSDE to SQLExpress i just chose the default instance name, but somehow
it's saying MSSQLSERVER.
I checked the databaseconnection through SQL Management Studio Express and
it works fine. Only when viewing the data-bound page on a browser that I get
the error message.
Do you think I should try to uninstall SQLServer Express and reinstall?

If this is the default instance then change your connection string to only
be the servername.
If you want to change the installation from being the default instance you
will need to re-install.

I just want to use the default instance since there's only one database on

I suspect there's a glitch during the upgrade process which causes SQL

A couple of suggestions:
Try using osql to try and connect, use both the server name and the IP
address and different user combinations.
Check that there is no blocking of the ports being used by a firewall (Try
telneting to the port!)

error connecting to sql db
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database requested in login 'ASPState'. Login fails. Login failed for user 'xyz'.
It's driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.
txs
sonnersYou have to go to Sql Server Manager, go to the database, click Add New User and add the user that needs permission, then give that user owner permission|||I did all this. My SQL knowledge isn't so bad. I've been using the main SQL login account as it's my local machine. This account works for other ASP sites but not for .Net ASP site.|||What does your connection string look like? You may need to add <identity impersonate="true"/> to your web.config file.

Error connecting to DB
I am learning how to use .NET and MSDE. I am working out of the book "ASP.NET Unleashed" on the Job Site (Chap 30)
I have used osql to run the .sql script, but now I am having problems connecting to the DB; I get "SQL Server does not exist or access denied"
The web.config file is:
<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="constring"
value="Server=localhost;UID=AspNETJobsUser;PWD=secret;Database=AspNetJobs" />
</appSettings>
<system.web>
<authentication mode="Forms" >
<forms name=".ASPNETJOBS"
loginUrl="/aspnetjobs/site/password/login.aspx" />
</authentication>
</system.web>
</configuration
My computer is running in Windows Authentication Mode.
I have tried replacing the UID and PWD to my sa account settings, but I still can not connect.
The books says I need to manually add a login that has access to the AspNETJobsDatabase, but I assume that would be the sa login or do I need to create another all together? If so, can anyone suggest an article to lead me in that direction.
Any suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
ThanksHere's an article that'll tell you how to add a login to an MSDE instance.
Regards,
Xander|||Data Source=IpAddyorServerName;Initial Catalog=DbName;User ID=UserName;Password=BlankpasswordSucks|||[SqlException: Impossibile eseguire l'accesso per l'utente 'sa'. Motivo: l'utente non è associato a una connessione SQL Server trusted.]
Why?
Bye Bye!|||I changed my code in the Web.config file to:
<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="constring"
value="Data Source=SHAYLA1;Initial Catalog=AspNetJobs;User ID=AspNETJobsUser;Password=secret" />
</appSettings>
<system.web>
<authentication mode="Forms" >
<forms name=".ASPNETJOBS"
loginUrl="/aspnetjobs/site/password/login.aspx" />
</authentication>
</system.web>
</configuration
and now I get the error:
Login failed for user 'AspNETJobsUser'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I followed the article on how to create a login, and I got the message of "user AspNETJobsUser already exists"
When I change the User to sa and password to "my password," I still get the same error
Still missing something?|||just an update for anybody out there that might be facing the same problem. I changed the setting to Mixed Mode from Windows authentication following the direction of the article at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=322336#2
Once I restarted my computer, the app came up fine.
My final web.config files looks like so:
<configuration>
<appSettings>
<add key="constring"
value="Server=(local);Database=AspNetJobs;UID=AspNETJobsUser;PWD=secret" />
</appSettings>
<system.web>
<authentication mode="Forms" >
<forms name=".ASPNETJOBS"
loginUrl="/aspnetjobs/site/password/login.aspx" />
</authentication>
</system.web>
</configuration
Thank you to those who responded to my original post.
Error Connecting to DB
I downloaded an ASP.NET web application from the web to learn the .NET framework. I was successful in running the website on my laptop using ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio 2005. My laptop is running Windows XP Professional and SQL Server 2005. I am now trying to do the same on my desktop computer running Windows Vista; however, for some reason i am getting an error when the website tries to connect to the DB. Here are the steps i have followed so far:
1. I tried to configure the website DB connection the same way i configured it on my laptop. Basically I use the following connectionStrings:
<connectionStrings>
<remove name="LocalSqlServer"/>
<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=TheBeerHouse;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
</connectionStrings
2. That same connection string worked fine on my laptop. But I got the following error on my desktop:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
I am wondering if the error is related to Vista. When i try to connect to that DB using SQL Management Studio via Windows Authetication and do not run it as Administrator then I cannot connect to the DB. In other words, only when i run SQL Management Studio as administrator i am able to use Windows authentication to connect to that DB.
3. Next, I tried creating a SQL login. I made sure I can use that login to access the DB directly using SQL Management Studio. In addition, I changed the database to allow "Local and remote connections" "Using both TCP/IP and named pipes".
4. Changed the connectionStrings in web.config to:
<connectionStrings>
<remove name="LocalSqlServer"/>
<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=TheBeerHouse;Integrated Security=False;uid=*****pwd=****" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
</connectionStrings
Obviously, the actual connectionString has the actual user name i created and the correct password instead of (*) asterisks.
5. And once again, I got same error as above
Any help will be appreciated!
Hi,
Is sqlserver on your desktop running in "Windows Authentication Mode" or "Mixed Mode"
Open up SqlServer Management Studio, right click on the Server, not the database(s), then in the left hand menu shown select Security. The dialog box on the right should have"SQL Server and Window Authentication Mode" checked instead of just"Windows Authentication Mode".
Hope this helps
Regards
ScottyB
|||I have "SQL Server and Window Authentication Mode"checked. I can login directly to the database via SQL Managament Studio using the same login and password as specified in the connectionString. I also have allowedLocal and remote connections and haveUsingboth TCP/IP and named pipeschecked.
|||
Hi nj07208
I have just noticed in the connection string that you posted here that you do not have a semiclon after the uid and pwd parameters. You can try this. See the listings below
Original Connection String
<connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=TheBeerHouse;Integrated Security=False;uid=*****pwd=****" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings>
Modified Connection String
<connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=TheBeerHouse;Integrated Security=False;uid=*****;pwd=****"; providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings>
Regards
ScottyB
|||i guess you meant with the semicolon right after the password before the double quotes. I tried that and it didn't work =(
|||I got a new error now! I turned off my firewalls (both Windows and McAfee ViruScan) and now i get a new error:
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.
Any ideas?
If you have access to the iismanager try doing a pool reset or a iisreset.
Do you have any code in your application that goes through a loop and opens connections. This error may suggest you are opening connections faster than the garbage collector can dispose of them.
Regards
ScottyB
|||I am using ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio 2005. I am not using IIS.
I got it!!! It works now!!! On the connectionString i changed Data Source from localhost to localhost\SQLEXPRESS. This is needed because I am using a named instance. So, to recap for anyone who is interested, these are the steps i followed:
1. EnableSQL Server and Windows Authentication mode. This can be done from SQL Management Studio
2. Create SQL Server login. Make sure you can login to the database using SQL Management Studio
3. EnableLocal and remote connections and haveUsingboth TCP/IP and named pipeschecked. This can be done from SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.
4. Connection String on web.config should be the following
<connectionStrings> <remove name="LocalSqlServer"/> <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=localhost\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=TheBeerHouse;Integrated Security=False;uid=username;pwd=password;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/></connectionStrings>Note that I enabled both Windows and McAvfee AntiVirus firewalls and it still works.
Error connecting to datasource using bulk load
The first issue I ran into was not being able to do a bulk load in a
multi-threaded environment. So I now have initiated a new thread prior
to trying to execute the bulk load. I am consistenly getting an unable
to connect to data source error. Does anyone have any ideas as to what
I may be doing incorrectly? The connection string is the same one I
use in other places without any issues.

Error automating SQL DTS Pkg from VB6 to VB.Net
complies fine but then I get this error message:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in
Project1.exe
Additional information: QueryInterface for interface DTS.CustomTask failed.
This is the portion of the code that it is breaking on:
I found 2 ways to do this but both ways are giving me the same error message
Way #1:
Public Sub Task_Sub1(ByVal goPackage As DTS.Package2)
Dim oTask As DTS.Task
Dim oLookup As DTS.Lookup
Dim oCustomTask1 As DTS.DataPumpTask2
oTask = CType(goPackage, DTS.Package2).Tasks.New("DTSDataPumpTask")
oTask = goPackage.Tasks.New("DTSDataPumpTask")
oCustomTask1 = oTask.CustomTask
Way #2:

Dim oTask As DTS.Task
Dim oLookup As DTS.Lookup
Dim oCustomTask1 As DTS.DataPumpTask2
oTask = CType(goPackage, DTS.Package2).Tasks.New("DTSDataPumpTask")
oCustomTask1 = oTask.CustomTask
If anyone has an idea on what I need to change in the code I would greatly

If you've been working on it a month, your best bet is probably a clean
install and re-configuring according the the Forms Authentication sample
from Microsoft. (That's about 4 hours of work.) It's so very easy to screw
it up, and unless you've got a working baseline, you could have tweaked any
number of settings trying to "fix" it, and simply made things worse. Once
you get a working baseline, then you can start modifying the sample to work
with your existing environment, security systems, etc. Or, if you had it
working at some customization after running the sample, go back to that
point again.
Bottom line: get to a known state. You need to have a reference point of a
working system, so you can point to what you were doing when it starts going
wrong.

Error after installing Whidbey!
2003 installed as well) and now I can't open my old sql databases! An
mmc.exrror comes up: The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at
"0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Any idea how this could be
fixed? Cheers in advance.Nab wrote:

I sure hope you didn't install on a production server. Beta software is
not certified for production use. The two .Net editions should co-exist
without a problem. In fact, that's one of the benefits of .Net. That is,
it supports multiple installed versions (in production form).
What do you mean "can't open your SQL databases"? It's not clear what's
installed on your PC, where your SQL Servers are located (local vs.
server). Are you saying that SQL 2000 runs fine, but SQL EM won't allow
you to browse your server? What application are you running?
