error dump file

Hi,
Our production server had frozen suddenly (it was working=20
for years without any issues), and I noticed sql server=20
error dump file afterwards(see below). I think that=20
process SPID 60 caused the problem, but I'm not sure how=20
to find out what was SPID before the "accident". Is=20
it "SELECT" statement which can be seen in the first part=20
of dump file?

Error creating object SQL 7.0 using sp_oaCreate

Hi,
I am trying to troubleshoot an issue that came up suddenly on a SQL Server 7
that I support.
There is a sp that runs every five minutes and one of the functions in the
sp uses the sp_oaCreate to create and object which returns some free disk
space information. This sp has been working fine for over six years now and
all of a sudden, last w, it started failing. After some debugging, I foun
d
that the following call is failing with the attached error;

And the error is:

I've been searching google and other things and found some information on
this forum with a similar error but the odd thing is that it it was working
fine and there was nothing done to the system at that time.
I should mention that I can create the object from outside the stored
procedure with no problems. It is SQL Server 7.0 7.00.961.
Can anyone possibly point me in a direction of what to look for?

Error Could not generate asynchronous keyset. The cursor has been deallocated.

Version 2000.80.760.0.
We have an update trigger that suddenly began to produce the above
error. Through trial and error, I was able to eliminate the error by
changing a table variable to a temporary table.
The problem can happen or not depending on which machine it is on,
despite the fact that the machines are running the same version. The
problem first occurred on a quad processor, but was then replicated on
a single-processor machine.
Using a temp table is OK, but if anyone can shed any light on why this
would fail, and only on some machines, and not in any of our previous
testing, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just a wild guess, and without looking at the code:
Perhaps sp_configure is different in the configuration for 'cursor threshold'?

we may be interested in tracking this issue so that we can make use of
the feature in the future (when it's fixed).
|||I can't say whether it is a bug or not. I was just guessing, based on the error messages and that it work on
some server but not on other, that the difference can be this configuration. You could research this in KB,
Google, etc and based on that determine whether you want to call this a bug and open a case with MS PSS...

Version 2000.80.760.0.
We have an update trigger that suddenly began to produce the above
error. Through trial and error, I was able to eliminate the error by
changing a table variable to a temporary table.
The problem can happen or not depending on which machine it is on,
despite the fact that the machines are running the same version. The
problem first occurred on a quad processor, but was then replicated on
a single-processor machine.
Using a temp table is OK, but if anyone can shed any light on why this
would fail, and only on some machines, and not in any of our previous
testing, any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you've been working on it a month, your best bet is probably a clean
install and re-configuring according the the Forms Authentication sample
from Microsoft. (That's about 4 hours of work.) It's so very easy to screw
it up, and unless you've got a working baseline, you could have tweaked any
number of settings trying to "fix" it, and simply made things worse. Once
you get a working baseline, then you can start modifying the sample to work
with your existing environment, security systems, etc. Or, if you had it
working at some customization after running the sample, go back to that
point again.
Bottom line: get to a known state. You need to have a reference point of a
working system, so you can point to what you were doing when it starts going
wrong.
