Error executing Packaga from job

Hello, I finally could upload the package, and from the management studio interface I ran the package and it worked perfectly.

When I created a job, with one step only to execute that package, the job fails.

When I go to history it doesnt give me any details of what failed on the package or in the job

Maybe is the user that it tried to execute the package as?

How can I change it?

please delete this post. sorry for repeating|||I can't, but can someone merge some of Luis' threads that all revolve around the same issue?

Thanks,
Phil|||

Hello, when I try to change the package protection level to server storage I got this

Failed to apply package protection with error 0xC0014061 "The protection level, ServerStorage, cannot be used when saving to this destination. The system could not verify that the destination supports secure storage capability.". This error occurs when saving to Xml.

|||Are you storing the packages as XML files or inside the DB? if you are using xmls files you can use DonSaveSensitive and the use package configurations to set the conection strings at run time as described in method 4 in that article.

Error connecting to datasource using bulk load

I am trying to use xml bulk load in a .net environment using vb.net.
The first issue I ran into was not being able to do a bulk load in a
multi-threaded environment. So I now have initiated a new thread prior
to trying to execute the bulk load. I am consistenly getting an unable
to connect to data source error. Does anyone have any ideas as to what
I may be doing incorrectly? The connection string is the same one I
use in other places without any issues.
Private Sub BulkLoadXML()
Dim bulkload As New Thread(New ThreadStart(AddressOf
ExecuteBulkCall))
bulkload.ApartmentState = ApartmentState.STA
bulkload.Start()
bulkload.Join()
End Sub
Private Sub ExecuteBulkCall()
Dim _bulkInstance As New SQLXMLBulkLoad3Class
_bulkInstance.ConnectionString = _strConn
_bulkInstance.ErrorLogFile = "c:\temp\xmlerror.log"
_bulkInstance.KeepIdentity = False
_bulkInstance.Execute("c:\SampleSchema.xsd",
"c:\SampleXMLData.xml")
End Sub

What does the connection string look like? When you say it worked in other
places - what places are those?

Microsoft Corp|||thanks for getting back to me. I am able to connect to the database elsewhe
re in the application to call stored procedures and retrieve the data to dis
play. This is the only place within the application that I am unable to conn
ect. I suspect it has to do with the fact that I am calling within a single
thread. Here is the connect string:
"Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=IOC;User ID=sg2user;password=sg2user"|||Try setting the Provider=sqloledb value in the connection string. Here's an
example from our docs of Bulkload in .NET:
[STAThread]
static void Main(string[] args)
{
try
{
SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad3Class objBL = new
SQLXMLBULKLOADLib.SQLXMLBulkLoad3Class();
objBL.ConnectionString =

security=SSPI";
objBL.ErrorLogFile = "error.xml";
objBL.KeepIdentity = false;
objBL.Execute ("schema.xml","data.xml");
}
catch(Exception e)
{
Console.WriteLine(e.ToString());

error after renaming server hosting SQL Server 2005

STEPS LEADING UP TO THE ERROR

1. renamed server
2. rebooted
3. ran the following script:

-- delete the server name currently stored in SQL Server
EXEC sp_dropserver @.@.servername
GO

-- set the server name stored in SQL Server to match the server name
DECLARE @.srvr sysname
SET @.srvr = CAST(SERVERPROPERTY('ServerName') AS sysname)
EXEC sp_addserver @.srvr, local
GO

-- Enable a loopback linked server after renaming the server.
DECLARE @.srvr sysname
SET @.srvr = CAST(SERVERPROPERTY('ServerName') AS sysname)
EXEC sp_serveroption @.srvr, 'data access', true
GO

4. rebooted

ERROR DESCRIPTION

Upon starting SSMS, the following error dialog appeared (Shift+Ctrl-C was used to capture the dialog box as text):

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

OK

As you can see the error dialog box is empty. It appears over what appears to be a blank SSMS. After clicking OK, SSMS appeared as it should.

I actually have the same problem and I haven't renamed anything. When I start SQL Server Managemnt Studio I get the blank message with the OK button as well.

Any suggestions?
