Error creating Report Model based upon Oracle Database

In MS Visual Studio, when creating a new Report Model Project, after defining a datasource to an Oracle database (and successfully testing it), and a simple datasource view (1 table), when I click "Run" in Report Model Wizard, I receive the following error:
"ORA-02179: valid options: ISOLATION LEVEL { SERIALIZABLE | READ COMMITTED }"

It does not appear that one can create Report Models from an Oracle database (since the SQL being used to query the Oracle database cannot be edited and contains syntax errors?). Is this the case?

Thank you.

Models for Oracle are not currently supported.

BTW, what version of Oracle are you using?

|||

Tried it on Oracle 9.2 and 10.1.

Thank you.

Alexandre

Where is SQL Server 2005 SP2? We can not find any reference to this release.

|||

Will it be supported by SP 2? When can we expect SP 2?

Error creating Indexes in ROLAP based OLAP in Analysis Server 2005

Hi,

We are implementing OLAP based system in which the team has decided to use ROLAP as storage structure. But we are getting error while deploying the cube. The error is

OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Cannot create index on view "Reporting.dbo.Agg_Fact Table_27_48_48_44_44_4" because it references derived table "dbo_Fact_Table" (defined by SELECT statement in FROM clause). Consider removing the reference to the derived table or not indexing the view.; 42000.

It seems that it has created a view that uses derived table and tries to create a clustered index on that. [Indexed View]. The above view definition contains derived table but as we know that the Indexed view can’t contain derived table. What is the workaround for this problem?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

I got the same problem and can't find any solution. Did you find any workaround to solve the problem

Hi,

I have experienced the same problem. Has this issue been resolved?

Thanks,

Bill

|||

I am sorry for *bumping* this one up, but I encounter the same problem on my project, so I wonder if there is a solution for it.

I would like to add that my project works well in MOLAP and does process completly without errors, switching to rolap gives the same message as the original poster has, with some different names and numbers for the tables and index columns of course.

Thanks

Ralf

|||

I have encountered this issue as well. I too wonder if there is a solution for this.

It appears to be only an issue when a particular attribute is used in an aggregation.

error attaching .mdf

I have been asked to edit a web based database and have been given the site on cd.

I have installed IIS, sql server express and Visual Web Developer express.

I am having problems getting the mdf database connected. It works at the school where they have it installed and as far as I know I have mirrored the configuration they have on one of my test servers.

The database is in App_Data

the connection string is "Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=c:\inetpub\wwwroot\App_Data\campbell.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"

And the state is closed.

When I view one of the aspx pages in IE I get the following.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Configuration Error

Description:An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

The common error is:

"Error 1 It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. c:\inetpub\wwwroot\App\Campbell_House\Web.config 8 "

When I test the database connection I get a message

The header file for 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\App_Data\campbell.mdf ' is not a valid database file header. The File Size property is incorrect. An attempt to attach an auto named database for file 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\App_Data\campbell.mdf ' failed.A database with the same name existsor the specified file cannot be opened or it is located on a UNC share

Any help would be great.

Ok so I am pretty new to this but I am making progress. I had tried all afternoon and it wasn't until after I posted here that I had a brainwav.

Hi,

I believe the cause of the problem is due to the web.config file being located in a folder that isn't marked in IIS as an application.

Your web.config currently appears to be located in:

c:\inetpub\wwwroot\app\campbell_house

It contains settings which ASP.NET requires being declared for the entire web application (e.g. the <authentication ...> section).

Try making 'campbell_house' an application using IIS management console.

Good luck :)

Wayne.
