Error after installing SQL 2005 sp2

After installing this, when I try to open a backup maintenance plan in
Management Studio, I get this error:
Error1Error loading 'MSAAFullBackup' : Unable to cast COM object of type
'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.Applicati onClass' to interface type
'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSAppli cation90'. This operation
failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface
with IID '{7591CC39-276A-4973-97C7-4EFEA5A5788F}' failed due to the following
error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002
(E_NOINTERFACE))..server=CLAUDIA;package=Maintenance
Plans\MSAAFullBackup;11
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?
Thanks
Hi,
To let me better understand your issue, could you please confirm with me
the following questions:
1. What is your SQL Server edition?
2. Has SQL Server 2005 SP2 been installed on your computer?
3. What is your Windows OS edition?
4. Does the error occur even if you just create a new BACKUP maintenance
plan?
For now, you may try manually running:
regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn\DTS.dll
to see if this issue persists.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or
concerns. Have a good day!
Best regards,
Charles Wang

|||Hi Tom,
Thanks for your response.
I am applying for a test environment as yours to check if this is a common
issue.
For now, I recommend that you mail me the following files for further
research:
%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt
%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix
The Hotfix folder may be large. I would like to create a workspace for your
uploading the files; however the process need your email address. Could you
please first send me (changliw_at_microsoft_dot_com) a email response now?
Best regards,
Charles Wang

|||Hi Tom,
After checked the hotfix logs, I found that SQL 2005 SP2 failed to be
installed on client tools . Please refer to the following errors:
Product : Client Components
Product Version (Previous): 2153
Product Version (Final) :
Status : Failure
Log File : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix\SQLTools9_Hotfix_KB921896_sql run_tools.msp.log
Error Number : 29549
Error Description : MSP Error: 29549 Failed to install and
configure assemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\90\NotificationServices\9.0.242\Bin\microso ft.sqlserver.notifications
ervices.dll in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087
Error message: Unknown error 0x80131501
Error description: The transaction has aborted.
From my research from our internal libraries, there are some similar issues
there but the root cause seems various and the troubleshooting steps were
complex.
You may try reinstalling COM+ and .NET Framework or check if your MSDTC was
disabled under your computer. Please refer to the following articles:

Setup
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143690.aspx
How to enable network DTC access in Windows Server 2003

Also you may try uninstalling SQL Server 2005 client components from Add
Remove Programs and reinstall it from Tools folder of your SQL Server 2005
setup CD, and then apply SQL 2005 SP2 again.
If this issue persists, effectively and immediately I recommend that you
contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) via telephone for the best
support. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged
call.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a
look at the web site listed below.

If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for
regional support phone numbers.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or
concerns.
